Hang and Vung Naulak, Thailand

At the same time that their church association asked them to go to Thailand they sensed the Lord calling them to be willing to go. They were sent on a short-term mission to explore options.

While in Thailand the OMF field leadership noticed their godly character and solid training. They saw how committed they were to language study and how friendly and outgoing they were. Even with beginner’s Thai they found ways to share their faith with Thai neighbours. They were invited to continue in language study and to apply to be OMF members. I was told, “They are exactly the kind of workers we’ve been looking for!”

Their short term mission was not easy. Vung had a miscarriage and their short-term visa was denied. Their co-workers supported them through their grief and helped them re-apply for a long-term religious worker visa. They trusted God and persevered and still feel strongly called to reach the unreached.

Now they’ve completed their application and are waiting for God to provide the full finances. Their rural church association in India has committed to meet 60% of their total support by God’s grace. Having additional support to cover good training opportunities would be a huge help to them and would represent another 20% of their need.

They need to keep learning Thai language and culture for another two years while they begin ministry. They also need to attend an Orientation course for new workers in Singapore. Training is vital to a worker’s effectiveness and growth. It’s tempting to consider cutting corners but we want them to be included in the training all OMF missionaries have benefitted from.
